
Secondly, I didn't have to cook one meal or do one load of laundry. This speaks for itself. I also had wonderful notes and calls from a bucket full of friends, which made the Stevie Nicks smile transition into a contented, "Wow I am so lucky" grin.
Thanks to Facebook, I had a record number of birthday greetings, which brought me enough warm and fuzzies to cancel out my regular milk and cookies routine this evening. On top of that, my husband and children presented me with a brand-spankin'-new Nook. Will I be glad? Time will tell. But it's charging as we speak, and I have a growing list of ebooks that are begging to be epurchased (ewahoo!).
After a dinner out, more personal phone calls and only a tiny existential moment (i.e. OMG, my life might be half over....you know the drill), I am now settling down for a birthday cupcake, which I did not have to bake. Does life get any better? For the moment, the answer is no.
